Sermon on Acts 5:12-42
The apostles perform many signs and miracles among the people, but the Sanhedrin finds out and arrests them. They are miraculously freed and return to preaching, only to be brought back before the council. The wisdom of Gamaliel assumes that if these men are false prophets, their preaching will amount to nothing, so they are set free after a thorough beating.
One of the ways that our faith is tested is when we are forced to suffer for the sake of Jesus. After the apostles are let go, they celebrate the fact that they were worthy enough to suffer in the name of their Savior.
