Project: Ready for Winter

Dear Church Family,
Through many seasons, our congregation has demonstrated faithfulness, generosity, and care for one another. We are grateful for that history, and we are asking for your help with an urgent need in our education wing.
During recent maintenance, Eagle Heating and Cooling discovered cracked or damaged heat exchangers in five of our building’s thirteen furnaces. These five furnaces are more than twenty-five years old, and the damage creates a risk of carbon monoxide entering the building’s air. All five of these units are located in the education wing.
These furnaces cannot be operated safely and will remain off until they are replaced. With winter approaching, we need to act as quickly as possible to restore heat to these classrooms.
For the sake of clarity, we (the elders) had planned to replace our aging equipment in phases. We hired Eagle Heating and Cooling to maintain and help extend the life of these furnaces while we worked with them to develop that plan. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to it fast enough due to other emergencies, including replacing our failed well, which required our attention and resources. The inspection has now made clear that replacing these five furnaces in phases is no longer an option.
While we wish this was the only need, there’s another issue we need to contend with: the aging flat roof above the classrooms also needs to be replaced. Four of the air-conditioning units being replaced sit on this roof and performing that work without first addressing the roof’s condition would risk further damage. Replacing the air-conditioning units now and then removing and reinstalling them for roof replacement soon afterward would mean working on the roof and air-conditioning units twice, adding considerable work and expense to these needs. We believe the responsible approach is to coordinate both projects and complete them together.
The total estimated cost is $83,000:
Our capital expense and facility maintenance budget cannot cover this amount, and we do not have sufficient savings to meet the need. We are also currently repaying two existing loans through Grace Financial: one for the chapel renovation in 2024 and another for improvements completed in 2020, including the chapel roof, auditorium furnaces, flooring, and more.
We are exploring payment arrangements to help us move forward promptly. Eagle Heating and Cooling has offered to accept installment payments, and we are speaking with Grace Financial about a possible short-term loan. Special gifts toward this project would help us make the required down payments and reduce the amount we need to finance.
We want to approach this need with openness, care, and a willingness to answer questions. Our shared concern is providing safe, usable spaces for the children, families, and others who gather here.
Would you prayerfully consider a special gift toward “Ready for Winter,” above and beyond your regular giving? Gifts of every size will help meet the $83,000 project goal, and we recognize that each household’s circumstances are different.
We ask that initial gifts be received by November 1st so we can make down payments and get the work underway before the weather becomes much colder. You can give online or with a check with “Ready for Winter” in the note.
We are sharing this need with the Classical Conversations homeschool community, which uses our facilities on Fridays. In addition, we are working with Ahavah Church, our Nepali friends, on ongoing contributions toward building and maintenance costs associated with their regular use of the space.
Ultimately, our confidence rests in God’s faithfulness. We are bringing this need before Him in prayer, asking for wisdom and provision, and inviting our church family to participate. You have demonstrated generosity and faithfulness in the past, and for that we are deeply thankful.
We will keep you informed about the amount raised and how we plan to proceed. If you have questions about the work, the cost, or the financing options, please speak with me or any of our elders.
Thank you for your prayers, your generosity, and your care for this church family. May the Lord guide us and strengthen our unity as we meet this need together.
With gratitude and trust in the Lord,
Pastor Tim and the Board of Elders

The total estimated cost is $83,000:
- $40,000 to replace five furnaces and their air-conditioning units.
- $43,000 for a new flat roof system, including new gutters and additional roof sheathing to strengthen areas where workers need to walk.
