In 1 Timothy 4:7–8, Paul writes, “Train yourself for godliness, for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way…” That’s the heart behind our current series, Holy Habits—a call to embrace the everyday practices that shape our souls and strengthen our walk with Jesus. Spiritual disciplines like prayer, Scripture, rest, and worship aren’t just religious routines—they’re workouts for the soul. To help you put this into practice, we’ve put together a set of tools we’re calling Training Tools—resources designed to help you train yourself for righteousness. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to deepen your habits, our hope is that these guides, readings, and prompts serve you well on your journey of spiritual growth.
Week One: Bible Study
In a world full of noise, distractions, and spiritual confusion, we need steady habits that keep us rooted in truth and growing in grace. That’s what the spiritual disciplines are all about—practices that help us draw near to God and become more like Christ. Among them, Bible study stands as one of the most essential. Without God’s Word, we cannot truly know who He is or how He calls us to live. In Sunday’s message, Pastor Tim challenged us to ask:
How are you studying the Bible personally? How are you studying the Bible interpersonally?
To help you answer those questions, we’ve put together some Training Tools for Bible study—resources to help you dive deeper into Scripture, whether you're reading alone or learning alongside others. However you choose to start, our prayer is that these tools help you form the holy habit of studying God’s Word—and encountering the living Christ through it.
