A Better Shepherd

Ezekiel 34 confronts Israel’s leaders for treating the people entrusted to them as resources for personal gain while neglecting the wounded, wandering, and weak. It also warns those within the community who use their advantages at the expense of others. In response, the Lord promises to intervene personally, gather His scattered people, care for their wounds, confront their oppressors, and place one faithful descendant of David over them. This promise ultimately points to Jesus, whose sacrificial care and righteous reign assure us that our hope does not rest in flawed leaders, but in the faithfulness of God.
